A Man Walks Into a Manhattan Bank

A man walked into a bank in Manhattan and asked for a meeting with a loan officer. The officer immediately came out and asked, “Sir, how can I help you?”

The man explained, “I’m going on a business trip for two weeks and need to borrow $5,000.”

The loan officer nodded and replied that the bank would need some collateral. Without hesitation, the man reached out and placed a set of car keys in the officer’s palm, saying, “These are the keys to my car parked outside.” Then he handed over a small stack of papers and added, “Here are the documents.”

The loan officer returned and informed the man that the bank was happy to accept the Ferrari as collateral. An employee then drove the car into the bank’s underground garage and parked it securely.

Two weeks later, the man returned, repaid the $5,000 principal plus interest—totaling$15.41—and prepared to leave. The loan officer said with a smile, “Sir, we were happy to be of service. Everything went very smoothly.”

Then he added, “But I must admit, we’re a bit puzzled. During your absence, we looked into your background and found out you’re a multi-millionaire. Why would someone like you bother to borrow $5,000?”

The man replied, “Can you find me anywhere else in Manhattan where I can park a Ferrari for two weeks for fifteen dollars?”
